ABOUT THE Tour
Gardiner is a beautiful town in the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York. Only 2.5 hours from the city, the surrounding area is home to an abundance of talent: ceramicists, painters, clockmakers, woodworkers, fiber artists, mixed-media artists, sculptors and more. Each year the tour hosts roughly 20-30 regional artists and attracts hundreds of visitors. Studio doors are opened to the public and collectors can get a glimpse behind the curtain and see how each artist’s process works. There is a special joy to seeing people’s creative spaces and we love to have the opportunity to share that experience with the public. Some artists will offer demos or talks, while others allow browsing at your own pace.
Additionally, the area boasts the stunning cliffs of the Shawangunk mountains, farmland, forests and streams. The Spring tour dates make for a lovely time to drive around the area while visiting the artist’s studio spaces. If you’re in town just for the tour, or just happen to be passing through, know that Gardiner has some truly spectacular hiking, skydiving, birdwatching, rock climbing, backroad cycling and some wonderful spots to eat and drink.
